Advocacy and Communications Coordinator

The Gist:

Lead advocacy and communications strategy for DRC’s Syria operations, translating field evidence into policy engagement with government, UN, and donor stakeholders. Ideal for humanitarian professionals with deep Syria expertise and proven track record influencing complex crises.

What You’d Be Doing:

• Develop and implement country-level advocacy strategy based on programme evidence and stakeholder analysis
• Produce evidence-based briefing papers, policy statements, and talking points for engagement with national authorities and UN agencies
• Manage Communications Officer and oversee media strategy, digital engagement, and visibility materials aligned with DRC’s priorities
• Coordinate collective advocacy with partner INGOs and represent DRC in humanitarian coordination forums and working groups

What They’re Looking For:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in human rights, development studies, social sciences, media, or related discipline; master’s degree advantageous.
• Experience: Minimum 5 years crafting and delivering policy and advocacy work in complex humanitarian crises or post-conflict situations, with strong understanding of Syria’s political and humanitarian context.
• Standout Qualifications: Prior experience in neighbouring refugee-hosting countries (Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey, Iraq), proven results in data analysis and message drafting, and strong negotiation skills with UN/INGO/donor forums.
