The Gist:

Support HR operations across multiple functions-recruitment, performance management, compensation, and benefits-within the State Department’s intelligence bureau. Ideal for HR professionals wanting to work on federal personnel issues at a senior level.

What You’d Be Doing:

  • Advise managers on recruitment strategies, draft vacancy announcements and assessment questions, and manage staffing documentation
  • Review position descriptions, classification requests, and organization changes; coordinate with classification specialists
  • Support performance management programs by reviewing appraisals for compliance and guiding managers on requirements
  • Interpret and apply HR policies, regulations, and procedures; coordinate with departmental and Intelligence Community stakeholders

What They’re Looking For:

  • Education: Master’s degree required for GS-11; bachelor’s or equivalent graduate study acceptable for GS-09.
  • Experience: 1 year of specialized HR experience at the next lower grade level (GS-07 for GS-09 applicants; GS-09 for GS-11 applicants); experience in staffing, classification, performance management, or benefits required.
  • Standout Qualifications: Experience with federal Civil Service and Foreign Service programs, or prior work in Intelligence Community human capital matters, is preferred.
