Glocal Roots
The Gist:
Help run a refugee support hub in Greece-managing a free shop, community center, and help desk for displaced people in Kos. Ideal for people who want hands-on humanitarian work in a tight-knit team.
What You’d Be Doing:
- Register people for the free shop, explain how it works, and help them select hygiene and food items
- Stock shelves, track inventory, shop for supplies, and prepare the space
- Welcome visitors to the community center, serve tea/coffee, organize activities and English classes
- Staff the help desk: answer WhatsApp questions, search for housing, arrange doctor appointments, refer people to services
What They’re Looking For:
- Standout Qualifications: Driving license is valuable for transporting supplies and people; prior experience teaching English or organizing community activities is a bonus.
Good Fit If:
You’re comfortable with flexible, changing daily tasks and genuinely enjoy face-to-face human connection. You’re resourceful, can work in a small team with limited resources, and want to directly improve people’s lives rather than work behind a desk.
