Agricultural Research Specialist in Smallholder Farming

The Gist:

Design, manage, and oversee farm trials with small-scale African farmers to test new agricultural products and practices. You’ll bridge rigorous research with real-world implementation, ensuring high-quality data and practical farmer guidance.

What You’d Be Doing:

• Design and execute scientifically sound agronomic trial protocols and manage end-to-end logistics to deliver inputs on time
• Conduct literature reviews, market research, and farmer surveys to identify high-impact products and practices for testing
• Perform regular field quality control, troubleshoot implementation challenges, and adapt plans while maintaining data integrity
• Translate research findings into clear, actionable guidance for field staff and farmers; lead farmer-focused training initiatives

What They’re Looking For:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in agronomy, agriculture, or a related field required.
• Experience: 3+ years managing agricultural projects including field trials and logistics coordination; 2+ years in agricultural research with demonstrated ability to balance rigor with practical application.
• Standout Qualifications: Smallholder farming context experience, proven agronomic trial design and implementation, and data analysis skills (R, Stata, or similar statistical software) are strong advantages.
