The Gist:

Prepare, serve, and manage meals for Head Start children in compliance with USDA/CACFP standards and food safety regulations. Ideal for someone with kitchen experience who cares about child nutrition and program operations.

What You’d Be Doing:

  • Prepare and serve meals and snacks for infants, toddlers, and preschool children following approved menus and dietary standards
  • Maintain kitchen inventory, oversee food storage and processing, and manage kitchen equipment and sanitation
  • Keep accurate records on paper and online systems; accommodate special dietary needs and maintain family confidentiality
  • Supervise kitchen operations, control costs, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local food service regulations

What They’re Looking For:

  • Education: High school diploma required.
  • Experience: At least 3 years of relevant food preparation and kitchen operations experience required.
  • Standout Qualifications: ServSafe certification, CACFP experience, and bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish or other local languages) are preferred.
