The Gist:

Support NRC’s humanitarian access and security operations in Mozambique’s Cabo Delgado region by managing safety assessments, staff training, and coordination with local authorities and partners. Ideal for someone with NGO security or humanitarian operations experience seeking hands-on field-based work in a complex conflict environment.

What You’d Be Doing:

  • Conduct security risk assessments, site inspections, and travel approvals; maintain safety plans and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Train staff on safety and security topics, facilitate hostile environment training, and manage incident reporting and documentation
  • Monitor staff and vehicle movements, coordinate with authorities and partner organizations, and represent NRC in security forums
  • Support emergency hibernation/relocation, liaise on humanitarian access issues, and advise management on operational security risks

What They’re Looking For:

  • Experience: Minimum one to two years’ experience in humanitarian or development operations in complex/conflict-affected contexts.
  • Standout Qualifications: Prior experience liaising with communities and authorities; conversational proficiency in Macua, Maconde, or Mwani is valued.

Languages:
