The Gist:
Support agricultural value chain and market access initiatives in Machakos County, Kenya. This role is for someone ready to work hands-on with farmer groups and county government to boost production and sales.
What You’d Be Doing:
- Implement agricultural livelihoods and value chain activities in project areas, including production support, aggregation, post-harvest management, and market linkages
- Mobilize and train farmer groups and producer organizations on improved technologies, climate-smart practices, and business skills
- Coordinate with county departments (Agriculture, Water, Cooperatives, Gender, Youth, Social Welfare) and other value chain actors to facilitate project rollout
- Conduct field monitoring, data collection, and reporting on project progress, challenges, and beneficiary feedback
What They’re Looking For:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Business Management, Environmental Science, Disaster Management, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- Experience: 2-3 years supporting agricultural value chain development in arid and semi-arid regions (ASAL).
- Standout Qualifications: Experience with Community Managed Disaster Risk Reduction, Natural Resource Management, Farmer Field Schools, Making Markets Work for the Poor, or climate-smart agriculture is a plus.
