Protection Officer – Carabobo

The Gist:

ACTED, an international humanitarian NGO, seeks a Protection Officer to coordinate and implement protection response in Venezuela following the June 2024 earthquake. You’ll manage cases, establish referral pathways, and deliver psychosocial support in affected communities.

What You’d Be Doing:

  • Design protection protocols and needs assessments; supervise case management and safe referrals while maintaining confidentiality
  • Provide technical assistance and training to protection staff and local partners on risk mitigation in shelters and communities
  • Participate in humanitarian coordination platforms (Protection Cluster, GBV and Child Protection sub-clusters) and liaise with government authorities and service providers
  • Ensure all activities integrate protection principles and zero-tolerance sexual exploitation policies; analyze data for project reports

What They’re Looking For:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Psychology required.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years managing protection cases (general, gender-based violence, or child protection) in humanitarian emergency contexts, with demonstrated experience working with local partners and Venezuelan institutional authorities.
  • Standout Qualifications: Prior experience in training delivery, workshop facilitation, and capacity-building is preferred.
