The Gist:
Board-certified psychiatrist stationed overseas to provide mental health care for U.S. diplomatic staff and families at embassies worldwide. You’ll work independently or with a small team in challenging environments where local resources may be limited.
What You’d Be Doing:
- Deliver outpatient mental health care to embassy employees, spouses, and children; handle crisis intervention 24/7
- Travel regionally (75%+) to assess mental health needs and coordinate care across multiple posts
- Manage health unit operations: medication inventory, staff training, local provider evaluations, medical evacuations
- Advise embassy leadership on staff morale, workplace issues, and mental health prevention programs
What They’re Looking For:
- Education: M.D. or D.O. with current American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) certification.
- Experience: At least 3 of the last 8 years in post-residency adult and/or child/adolescent psychiatry, with 50% minimum direct patient care.
- Standout Qualifications: Experience in child/adolescent psychiatry, family/couples therapy, cross-cultural psychiatry, substance abuse, crisis intervention, team leadership, and overseas or occupational health settings.
