Open Cultural Center
The Gist:
Two-month ESC volunteering placement supporting migrant and refugee programs in Greece. You’ll teach, mentor, or help run operations at cultural centers serving displaced communities.
What You’d Be Doing:
- Teach English, Greek, or German to adults and children, or provide basic digital literacy instruction
- Lead recreational, art, or well-being activities for kids, youth, or women
- Support monitoring, evaluation, communications, or bike-rental operations
- Work autonomously within a small international team in Polykastro
What They’re Looking For:
- Experience: Teaching or refugee-sector experience preferred; strong interpersonal and organizational skills required.
- Standout Qualifications: Multilingual candidates (German, French, Arabic, Dari, Sorani) stand out; prior intercultural or nonprofit work is valued.
Good Fit If:
You’re adaptable, proactive, and genuinely motivated to support vulnerable populations. You thrive in informal, collaborative settings and can work independently while sharing close quarters with other volunteers.
Languages:
Good command of English and/or Greek required; other languages (German, French, Arabic, Dari, Sorani) a plus.
