The Gist:
Support community protection activities in a refugee camp or informal settlement in Raqqa, including organizing community meetings, awareness campaigns, and self-governance structures. Best for someone committed to working directly with vulnerable populations on protection and safety issues.
What You’d Be Doing:
- Assist with Communication with Communities (CwC) activities: organize awareness sessions, focus group discussions, and campaigns on protection issues
- Help establish and support community governance committees, including organizing elections, trainings, and weekly meetings
- Supervise and manage incentive labor workers; track attendance and coordinate with finance
- Identify, monitor, and refer protection cases and safety concerns to the Community Based Protection Officer; support health and fire safety tracking
What They’re Looking For:
- Experience: Experience working in humanitarian settings, community mobilization, or protection programming preferred.
- Standout Qualifications: Experience with gender and GBV (gender-based violence) awareness, community governance structures, or camp operations is a plus.
