Protection Officer (Gender-Based Violence and Child Protection)

The Gist:

IOM is hiring a protection specialist to develop and deliver gender-based violence and child protection services for vulnerable migrants in Libya. You’ll coordinate with UN agencies and NGOs to expand survivor support and safeguarding programs.

What You’d Be Doing:

• Implement GBV and child protection interventions, including case management and Best Interest Determination processes for at-risk children and survivors
• Develop and revise standard operating procedures, referral pathways, and capacity-building materials aligned with IASC guidelines
• Coordinate inter-agency protection activities, lead trainings on GBV/child protection topics, and manage relationships with UN partners and civil society
• Contribute to strategic documents, service mapping, and monthly reports on protection programming

What They’re Looking For:

• Education: Master’s degree in law, international relations, psychology, social sciences, or related field (plus 2 years experience), OR bachelor’s degree in those fields (plus 4 years experience).
• Experience: Experience in protection/GBV programming and child protection in MENA or similar contexts; coordination with UNICEF, UNFPA, UNHCR and interagency partners; designing GBV/child protection trainings and operational documents.
• Standout Qualifications: Proficiency with MiMOSA case management system, project management and M&E experience, knowledge of disability inclusion and gender mainstreaming, and working knowledge of Arabic are advantageous.
