WASH Assistant – National Position

The Gist:

Implement water, sanitation, and hygiene programs for displaced persons and host communities in Uganda’s Nyakabande Transit Center. Ideal for someone with WASH field experience who wants hands-on community engagement in a humanitarian setting.

What You’d Be Doing:

  • Mobilize communities on safe water access, sanitation, and hygiene practices through behavioral change campaigns and latrine construction
  • Assess WASH priorities with refugees, asylum seekers, and host communities; plan and execute solutions collaboratively
  • Coordinate with other NGOs and IsraAID sectors to avoid program overlap and ensure integration
  • Document and report weekly updates, monthly reports, and quarterly progress on WASH activities and outcomes

What They’re Looking For:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Public Health, Community Health, Water Engineering, or similar field.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of professional WASH program experience in similar contexts, ideally with an international NGO or humanitarian organization.
  • Standout Qualifications: Knowledge of social behavior change approaches (CLTS, CHAST, MHM, PHAST), strong facilitation and community mobilization skills, and fluency in multiple local languages are valued.
