Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP) Specialist

The Gist:

Help IOM Syria build systems that put crisis-affected communities at the center of humanitarian and development work. You’ll design accountability frameworks, lead coordination across UN agencies and NGOs, and strengthen how the mission gathers and acts on community feedback.

What You’d Be Doing:

• Develop mission-wide AAP systems, procedures, and guidance to embed accountability across all programming
• Co-chair the national AAP Working Group and coordinate with UN agencies, NGOs, civil society, and local authorities
• Design and implement a data-driven complaints and feedback mechanism to collect and act on community input
• Build staff and partner capacity through training, mentoring, and technical support on AAP approaches

What They’re Looking For:

• Education: Advanced degree in social sciences, international development, humanitarian affairs, public policy, community engagement, communications, or related field.
• Experience: Demonstrated experience designing and implementing AAP frameworks, community engagement approaches, and feedback mechanisms in humanitarian or development settings; strong interagency coordination background.
• Standout Qualifications: Experience establishing complaints and feedback mechanisms, data-driven accountability systems, and organizational change processes is preferred.
