Contracts Administrator

RAND

The Gist:

RAND’s Contract & Grant Services team seeks a mid-level or senior contracts professional to manage complex research agreements with federal, state, nonprofit, and private sponsors. You’ll independently handle proposal review, contract negotiation, compliance, and post-award administration in a nonprofit research environment.

What You’d Be Doing:

  • Review RFPs and sponsor requirements; advise research staff on proposal compliance and contractual interpretation
  • Draft, negotiate, and execute research agreements (proposals, NDAs, teaming agreements, task orders) with federal and private sponsors
  • Monitor active projects for compliance with sponsor and organizational requirements; manage modifications and closeouts
  • Research and interpret federal regulations (FAR, CFR) and contract terms; advise management on legal risks and acceptability

What They’re Looking For:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline preferred; high school diploma/GED with 8 years (mid-level) or 10 years (senior) of relevant experience accepted as substitute.
  • Experience: 4 years of relevant contract administration experience required for mid-level role; 6 years required for senior role.
  • Standout Qualifications: Certification in Contract Management, experience with Workday or Salesforce, and familiarity with various federal contracting vehicle types (FFP, T&M, CPFF, IDIQ) are all pluses.

Good Fit If:

You’re detail-oriented, enjoy interpreting regulations and solving contractual problems independently, and can build collaborative relationships with research teams and external sponsors. You thrive in a nonprofit research environment where mission-driven work matters.
