The Gist:
Install, maintain, and troubleshoot technical security systems at U.S. embassies and consulates worldwide. Ideal for hands-on technicians ready to work in challenging environments and support diplomatic operations globally.
What You’d Be Doing:
- Install, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot security equipment (alarms, access control, video systems, X-ray machines, ballistic doors, explosive detection systems)
- Perform technical surveys, system design evaluations, and prepare architectural documentation per government standards
- Travel to overseas posts to provide technical support, coordinate logistics, and train local security personnel
- Manage equipment supply chains, supervise regional technicians, and oversee X-ray and explosive detection programs
What They’re Looking For:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree in electronics or electro-mechanical specialty can substitute for some experience.
- Experience: At least two years of hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing electronic, electrical, or electro-mechanical systems (access control, security video, alarms, networking equipment, etc.).
- Standout Qualifications: Background in military or vocational technical training, knowledge of National Electrical Code, IT networking basics, or experience with high-security facility work.
