The Gist:
Create communications and media strategy for the State Department’s multilateral foreign policy work. This role is for someone who can translate complex diplomatic initiatives into clear public messaging and digital content.
What You’d Be Doing:
- Lead media relations planning, coordination, and execution for Bureau initiatives
- Research and analyze foreign policy developments to ensure communications accurately reflect US policy
- Develop and implement stakeholder outreach campaigns promoting multilateral foreign policy priorities
- Manage digital communications: content calendars, social media, website updates, and emerging platforms
What They’re Looking For:
- Education: Master’s degree, 3 years of graduate coursework, LL.M., or J.D. may substitute for experience (varies by grade level); graduate education can be combined with experience to meet qualifications.
- Experience: GS-09: 1 year specialized experience at GS-07 level in policy research, writing communications materials, and digital content; GS-11: 1 year at GS-09 level; GS-12: 1 year at GS-11 level. No education substitute for GS-12.
- Standout Qualifications: Experience with high-level stakeholder engagement, managing multi-stakeholder clearance processes, or running digital campaigns is preferred for advancement to GS-12.
