Community Facilitator for Education and Food Security

The Gist:

Lead on-the-ground implementation of agricultural, nutrition, and education programs in rural Guatemala. This role is for someone with deep roots in a Maya community who can train families and schools in sustainable farming and food security.

What You’d Be Doing:

• Train community groups in school and household gardens, sustainable agriculture, livestock production, and income generation using hands-on learning methods
• Improve school water, sanitation, hygiene, and pedagogical gardens under a healthy-schools approach
• Collect data, monitor program execution, and report on activities using standardized monitoring tools
• Represent Feed the Children to local authorities and build strategic partnerships with community stakeholders

What They’re Looking For:

• Education: High school completion (secondary, technical, or diversified education) with a focus on agriculture, food security, or related fields.
• Experience: At least 3 years of field experience as a promoter or facilitator with NGOs, international cooperation agencies, or government bodies working on education, food security, climate change, or sustainable agriculture.
• Standout Qualifications: Training certifications in agriculture, food security, or climate change; advanced experience driving motorcycles and 4×4 vehicles on rough terrain; basic proficiency with computer programs for data collection and report writing.
