The Gist:

Help a UK peacebuilding charity design and evaluate conflict resolution programmes across Central Africa and South Sudan. This is a volunteer role suited for someone pursuing or recently finished a master’s degree in a related field.

What You’d Be Doing:

  • Research, analyze, and write reports on conflict dynamics and peacebuilding programme outcomes
  • Monitor international funding opportunities and assist with grant proposals and project design
  • Support data collection, analysis, and programme monitoring with field teams
  • Track staff security movements on a rotating basis and contribute to internal meetings and external seminars

What They’re Looking For:

  • Education: Relevant master’s degree in international relations, development studies, conflict analysis, or similar (can be completed during internship).
  • Experience: Professional-level fluency in French and English required; Arabic a bonus. Experience with Excel, PowerBI, QGIS, or Kobo Collect preferred.
  • Standout Qualifications: Interest in peacebuilding at a conceptual level, willingness to take on diverse tasks, and ability to work flexibly across time zones.

Good Fit If:

You’re curious about how peacebuilding works in real contexts, comfortable with unstructured learning in a small charity, and able to commit three days per week for six months without salary. You thrive on variety and aren’t afraid to pick up new technical skills on the job.
