General Surgeon

The Gist:

UK-Med, a frontline medical charity born from the NHS, is seeking experienced surgeons to provide emergency surgical care in humanitarian and disaster response settings worldwide. This role is for surgeons who want to deploy rapidly to crisis zones and make direct clinical impact.

What You’d Be Doing:

• Perform general, trauma, plastic, and reconstructive surgery in low-resource and conflict settings
• Manage complex surgical cases across adult and pediatric populations with limited resources
• Work on international emergency response deployments, including current operations in Ukraine
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support UK-Med’s humanitarian programs

What They’re Looking For:

• Education: Medical degree with specialized surgical training and full licensure as a surgeon registered with an appropriate professional body.
• Experience: Substantial background delivering surgical care to diverse, complicated patients; previous experience in low-resource, humanitarian, or conflict environments is essential.
• Standout Qualifications: Proficiency treating both adults and children; language skills; experience with broad-spectrum surgery including plastics and reconstructive procedures.
