Project Manager – Mauritania

The Gist:

Lead COOPI’s food security and livelihoods programming in southeast Mauritania, overseeing project strategy, operations, and team management. This is for someone ready to coordinate humanitarian development work in a complex refugee/host-community setting.

What You’d Be Doing:

  • Coordinate and manage food security, livelihoods, and WASH project components across planning, implementation, and monitoring
  • Recruit, supervise, and evaluate project staff; ensure compliance with organizational procedures and code of ethics
  • Manage project budget (1M+ annually), procurement, financial controls, and donor reporting for AICS, UN, and EU funders
  • Represent COOPI externally with consortium partners, donors, clusters, local authorities, and beneficiaries; prepare technical and communications products

What They’re Looking For:

  • Education: University degree in agronomy, veterinary science, economics, rural development, or related social sciences.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years managing food security and WASH/nutrition projects, with at least 2 years as project or technical coordinator handling budgets over 1M annually.
  • Standout Qualifications: Italian language skills, M&E methodology expertise, prior COOPI experience, and strong knowledge of Nexus principles are valued.
