The Gist:

Freelance role managing coordination between headquarters and at-risk journalists across North Africa, based in Tunis. You’ll be the on-the-ground hub for a fellowship supporting journalists fleeing conflict zones.

What You’d Be Doing:

  • Liaise between headquarters, fellows, and local partners to ensure smooth communication and information flow
  • Fill support gaps when local partners can’t help, ensuring fellows get timely assistance with security, relocation, or other needs
  • Oversee partner performance on communication, program delivery, documentation, and reporting
  • Monitor and evaluate activities, handle compliance with admin/security/financial processes, and coordinate knowledge management

What They’re Looking For:

  • Experience: Minimum 3 years managing emergency support projects in Northern Africa, with case management experience and ability to communicate under stress.
  • Standout Qualifications: Familiarity with exile journalism, media freedom issues, and non-discriminatory development communication is preferred.

Good Fit If:

You’re fluent in Arabic with working English, understand North African media and politics deeply, and thrive coordinating between dispersed teams under pressure. You’re flexible, collaborative, and comfortable stepping in to directly support vulnerable journalists when partners fall short.
