The Gist:

WHO is hiring a technical advisor to mainstream gender equality, human rights, and gender-based violence prevention into Ukraine’s health systems and policies. This role supports the country office in translating global commitments into on-the-ground action.

What You’d Be Doing:

  • Provide technical support on gender, equity, human rights, and GBV to WHO Ukraine, coordinating with regional offices, UN agencies, government, and civil society
  • Adapt WHO guidelines and tools to Ukrainian context and help health programs integrate gender-responsive and GBV-sensitive approaches
  • Develop country workplan for mainstreaming gender and GBV across health priorities; conduct data analysis and document best practices
  • Support integration of GBV prevention and response into essential health services for conflict-affected and displaced populations; design staff training curricula

What They’re Looking For:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in communication, social policy, healthcare, health policy, public management, economics, demography, public health, or related field; Master’s preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years in health and/or social sectors including public sector work, with proven ability to write reports, review policies, and analyze policy documents.
  • Standout Qualifications: Prior experience with international institutions (especially WHO or UN) on gender-based violence policy, gender equality, health systems strengthening, or health services delivery is valued.

You’re comfortable working in fluid, uncertain environments and have strong coordination skills across diverse national and international partners. You combine technical knowledge of gender, human rights, and public health with emotional intelligence and clear written and oral communication.

Languages:

Fluent English and Ukrainian required; intermediate knowledge of another UN language preferred.
