WASH/Shelter Engineer

The Gist:

Lead water, sanitation, hygiene, and shelter engineering for earthquake relief in the Philippines. You’ll design systems, oversee construction, and ensure communities can maintain them long-term.

What You’d Be Doing:

• Conduct technical assessments for water supply, sanitation, and shelter; prepare designs, bills of quantity, and technical reports
• Supervise construction activities in the field, monitor progress at 20%, 50%, 80%, and 100% completion, and ensure vulnerable groups are consulted
• Test water quality before/after work, train community committees on facility maintenance, and hand over infrastructure to local government
• Prepare worker payment sheets, manage project equipment, and maintain asset registers

What They’re Looking For:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, architecture, or related field; must be a licensed engineer or architect.
• Experience: At least 3 years in humanitarian organizations (especially WASH and restoration); proven engineering experience in water supply, sanitation, and shelter projects; prior emergency/recovery work required.
• Standout Qualifications: Cash for Work project experience, familiarity with local Philippine culture and dialect, AutoCAD and SketchUp proficiency, and demonstrated commitment to gender equality are valued.
